Funding opportunities available to the Area for community buildings and facilities through two funding pots called WREN and LEADER.
 
The LEADER Programme aims to support rural communities to deliver projects in their local area.  A total fund of £500,000 per year is available until December 2013 that local groups can apply for.
Types of activities that can be funded include
    • The development and enhancement of Community buildings, Amenity spaces & Village approaches and main streets
    • Preserving, promoting and improving local heritage and culture in rural communities.
    • Energy services e.g. renewable energy projects

WREN award grants for community, conservation and heritage projects to benefit the lives of people who live within 10 miles of operating landfill sites
The WREN Small Grants Scheme provides: 
Capital only funding of between £2,000 and £15,000 for a total project cost of less than £50,000               
The project must be based at one of the following:     
    • Village Hall/Church Hall/Community Centre
    • Recreation Ground
    • Country Park    Public footpath/towpath
    • Nature reserve
    • Public park/Cycleway/Village Green
    • Skate park/Bridleway/Sports Club (multi-purpose)
    • Playground/ MUGA       
 
TheWREN Main Grants Scheme provides: 
Grants of between £15,001 and £75,000 for projects with a maximum total project cost of £500,000.
NOTE: This is a recent increase from £50,000 in response to the lack of funding opportunities around at the moment.
Project must be based at locations indicated above.

The LEADER and WREN funding schemes provide an excellent opportunity for your local community to improve its facilities and due to their similarity these funds are often used as match funding against each other.
