   Grimsby Library Re-opens    3 October, 2012
"

GRIMSBY Central Library will open it doors on Thursday, October 4, following a month’s closure for electrical and engineering tests prior to essential maintenance and building repairs.

As announced in January this year, Grimsby Central Library is undergoing a programme of works to ensure the facilities are maintained to the highest standard. This initial works included electrical and building checks and contractors required unrestricted access.

Councillor Mick Burnett, portfolio holder for tourism and culture, said: “We thank our customers for their patience during this time and hope that they were able to make use of our other libraries or benefited from our online resources.

“This closure has ensured the efficient completion of testing works and we welcome customers back to the library now they are complete.â€

Customers are reminded that the library’s café will not re-open on Thursday, October 4, a facility that has been managed by the authority since September 2010. In addition the Tourist Information Centre, previously located within the library will remain at the Fishing Heritage Centre, where it has been based during the building works.

The same services will be provided at the Fishing Heritage Centre such as National Express bookings and the sale of Humber Bridge tickets. Many visitors accessing the facility over the last month have indicated that they prefer the visitor attraction in Alexandra Docks (close to Sainsbury’s) as a location for these services.

Caxton Box Office will be returning to Grimsby Central Library on Thursday, October 4.
